1. On clean, dry skin. One or two drops is a full dose — this is a gel, and more will pill under makeup.
2. Press it in with your palms rather than rubbing it around with fingertips.
3. Wait two to three minutes for the film to set before anything else goes on top.
4. Morning for the visible effect through the day, night if you would rather the vitamin C worked while you sleep.
5. Before an event, apply about thirty minutes ahead. The tightened look peaks around then and holds for a few hours.

Ampoule vs serum — what is the actual difference?

Commercially, very little. An ampoule usually means a small, sealed, single-concentrate bottle sold in 5 to 10ml, often with fewer ingredients than a full-size serum. There is no legal definition and no standard concentration. Judge the ingredient list and the price per millilitre, not the word on the carton. Every ampoule in the range is 5ml.

Does the gold do anything for my skin?

Optically, yes. Physiologically, no. Gold is chemically inert, which is exactly why it is used in jewellery and dentistry, and it sits last on this list in a tiny amount. What it does is reflect light, so skin photographs brighter. That is a genuine cosmetic effect and it is worth having — it is just not treatment.

How long does the tightening last?

A few hours, until the film breaks down or you wash your face. It comes back every time you apply. This is the same mechanism behind most instant-lift products, and there is nothing wrong with it — the mistake is expecting it to accumulate into permanent firmness. It will not.

Will it fade black spots and old marks?

Slowly, and only some kinds. 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid works on surface pigment, so post-acne marks and sun freckles respond best. Deeper melasma is much more stubborn. Expect eight to twelve weeks of daily use before a fair judgement, and daily sunscreen throughout or nothing will shift.

Should I buy this or the Vitamin C Ampoule?

One, not both. The two share the same base and the same vitamin C at the same position. Choose this if you want the immediate glow and the tightened finish for daytime. Choose the Vitamin C Ampoule if dark circles are the concern — it is written around that specific problem.

Can I wear it under makeup?

Yes, and it is one of the better ampoules for it. There are no oils or silicones to disturb a foundation, and the film gives a slightly smoothed base. The only rule is dose: one or two drops, fully dry, before primer. Three or four drops is where pilling starts.

Will it pill?

Only if you use too much or do not let it dry. Carbomer gels pill when they are still tacky and something is rubbed over them. Two or three minutes of drying time solves it almost every time. If it still pills, you are applying more than the skin can absorb.
