Beauty Serum

• Goes on last, over everything else: Occlusives seal. Put this under an ampoule and the ampoule sits on top doing nothing.
• Alpha arbutin prevents faster than it removes: It slows new pigment forming, so fresh marks stop darkening long before old ones fade.
• Three actives on tone, one on texture: Alpha arbutin, glutathione and vitamin B3 work on colour; hyaluronic acid works on how skin feels.
• Three sizes, and the 3ml is the honest one: Enough to test tolerance for a fortnight before you commit to the 10ml.
• Aloe and dimethicone make it comfortable over actives: Layered above a retinol or an acid, it takes the edge off rather than adding to it.

• Alpha arbutin: It works on the enzyme that makes pigment, not on pigment that exists — so it prevents new darkening before it fades old marks.
• Beeswax, mineral oil and steareth-20: The reason this is an emulsion, not a solution. Together they form the seal that defines how you use it.
• Vitamin B3: Niacinamide, listed by its vitamin name. In an occlusive base it stays on the skin longer than it would in a water serum.
• Glutathione: An antioxidant with a big reputation and modest topical evidence. Present here as support for the arbutin rather than as the lead.
• Tocopheryl acetate: The stable ester of vitamin E, which suits an oily base because it will not oxidise the way free tocopherol can.
• Titanium dioxide: Here as an opacifier, giving the serum its pale colour. It is not sun protection and carries no SPF rating.

Methyl and propyl paraben are both listed, and aqua is printed last, which cannot be right for an emulsion. Read this list as a declaration of what is in the bottle, not as an order of concentration.

1. Cleanse, then apply anything watery first — an ampoule, a toner, a treatment.
2. Two or three drops of this over the top, once the layer underneath has dried.
3. Warm it between your fingers before applying. It spreads much further that way.
4. Night is the better slot. In the morning it works, but sunscreen has to go over it and that can feel heavy.
5. Give it twelve weeks. Arbutin is a slow ingredient and there is no version of this that shows in a fortnight.

Why does the order matter so much?

Because thin products cannot get through thick ones. Beeswax, mineral oil and dimethicone form a film, and a water-based ampoule applied over that film mostly sits there. Applied underneath, the same ampoule absorbs normally and this serum holds it in. Same two products, completely different result.

Is this a K beauty serum?

No, and we would rather say so than borrow the label. It is made in Pakistan and sold across the Gulf. The texture is closer to a traditional emulsion than to the light, layered Korean approach — the ingredients overlap, the formulating philosophy does not.

How is it different from the ampoules?

Texture and job. The ampoules are thin, single-purpose concentrates that go on early in a routine. This is a multi-active emulsion that goes on last and seals everything under it. They are designed to be used together, in that order, rather than chosen between.

How long before alpha arbutin does anything?

Eight to twelve weeks for most people, and longer for older marks. What moves first is usually prevention rather than correction: new marks from spots or sun stop deepening. Judging it at four weeks is the most common reason people give up on arbutin too early.

Which size should I buy?

The 3ml if you have not used arbutin before, because two weeks tells you whether the fragrance and the rich texture suit you. The 10ml is the only size that will realistically last the twelve weeks this ingredient needs, so it is the one to commit to.

Can I use it with vitamin C or a retinol?

Yes, and layering it last is why it works well with both. Apply the vitamin C or retinol to clean skin, let it absorb, then seal with this. It reduces the sting some people get from either, without cancelling anything out.

Are the parabens a concern?

Methyl and propyl paraben are permitted preservatives at regulated levels and are among the most studied in cosmetics. The scientific position is that they are safe as used. If you prefer to avoid them as a personal choice, that is reasonable, and several of our ampoules are paraben-free.

Will it feel greasy?

Somewhat, and that is the trade-off for the sealing. Two drops is the right amount for a whole face; three feels heavy on oily skin in summer. If shine bothers you, use it at night only and let it absorb for ten minutes before your pillow.
